Lachlan De-Maranta-Rer!

Lol. I just kinda animorphed the Brisbane Broncos winger’s name! Kinda funny if you follow the NRL as closely as I do. Personally, I think it’s more hilarious than Nathan Hindmarsh’s attempts at side-splitting hilarity. Don’t quote me on that as he is a nice guy and he stands about 3 inches taller than me and outweighs me by about 27 kilograms.
How about the past week in the NRL? Firstly, the whole news surrounding Ben Barba: if it’s not the issues about why he wanted to leave the Doggies and return to Brisbane, it’s his (alleged) assault on an ex-girlfriend from about a year ago.
Secondly, Paul Gallen’s (very light) one week suspension for his crusher tackle on North Queensland Cowboys’ front rower Scott Bolton, which has left Bolton with a slight neck strain which will have him out for the Cowboys last game of the season next weekend. I believed at the time the offence occurred that Gallen should have been gone for at least a month if the Judiciary wanted to be consistent with their suspensions for these sort of illegal tackles and motivation to rub these wrestling-hold type tackles out of the game. I guess the NRL office wants marquee players like Gallen playing for their teams (in Gal’s case, the Cronulla Sharks) during the Finals. Marquee or not, he should not have been let off so leniently. The Judiciary has been more inconsistent with their rulings than Eric Montross was from the free-throw line during his NBA career (48.7%).
Lastly, another upset – Gold Coast Titans over the Sydney Roosters on Sunday. Two straight defeats for the Chooks. Not good – although, personally – being a South Sydney Rabbitohs tragic – I thinks it’s wonderful. The players are saying that everything is all fine within the camp right now, but in such a big game against the Bunnies next Friday, which will decide the minor premiership, confidence must be a little low – so low, my Bunnies might just steal top spot from them and take all the momentum in the world going into the Finals. SBW will come roaring back for this game, but that’s alright as the “Burgess Brothers” will take care of him.
Away from rugby league, it’s coming up to voting day to decide who will be ruling over our fair land for the next four years – Messr. Rudd or Abbott. Personally, I don’t give a stuff – but as I have to make my vote count, I do prefer the “Speedos Man” over “Mr. Kruddy”. We shall see in maybe a month’s time which party will have control of our country. Maybe the Independents (AKA Bob Katter, Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor) will have the final word once again. Who knows.
Anyways, y’all have a great week, and I shall return with another five-setter (just like Mr. Iron Man himself, Lleyton Hewitt) sometime soon. Another Demon-Ode, over and out.
